Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House South Island is an independent charitable Trust whose mission is to provide free accommodation and support to families of children suffering illnesses that require hospital treatment in Christchurch.

The House is the ONLY facility in the South Island providing accommodation free of charge to families of sick children irrespective of their family income.

RMHSI operate with the equivalent of 6 FTE's and have over 60 volunteers who, in 2009 contributed the equivalent of 4.5 full time staff. This donated labour enables them to keep their costs as low as possible, so that the bulk of funds raised can to go towards operating the House.??RMHSI provide a 'home away from home' for families going through the emotionally tough experience of having a sick child. When families stay at the House, they have their own room, bed and bath linen, free laundry facilities and fully equipped kitchens.

RMHSI accept families of children, up to and including the age of 20, who have to travel to Christchurch for medical treatment and care. Families are never charged for their stay.

When RMHSI needed to add 9 family rooms and an art therapy room to their existing Cashel St facilities James Bull & Co wanted to play their part.

In conjunction with Ingseroll Rand Security Technologies, James Bull donated all the hardware required including:

Legge 990 Commercial mortice locks

Legge Alpha 800 Series door furniture

Electric mortice locks

Master key system

As well as supplying the goodies, it was all fitted on the doors free of charge.
