Burglary Safes
These are safes designed to protect your valuables, assets and items from theft and could be considered if you have a fire protection system installed that will reduce the risk of fire damage
Resisting impact and attack standards
They are rated on the time they can resist attack from tools, and machinery, and in New Zealand the most common standard ratings are the UL or Underwriters Laboratory standards. The standard is represented by TL, TR and TX indicating the level of attack followed by 15,30, 60 being the time it can withstand such impact.
Fire rating
Security and Burglary safes are generally not constructed or rated to meet the stringent standards of fire safes. For this reason if you are needing to protect your passports, wills, paper or computer hard drives then a Fire rated safe is a better option.
Construction and Fixing
There is a range of build, and fixing methods and it is important to check these out as part of your selection process as they will add resistance to attack and or burglary and removal.
Access
Gone are the keys to get lost, and most safes now are either a dial or a digital pad entry. They both offer the same level of protection, however the dial can be trickier to use for older people or those where there hand movement is restricted.

Yale Safes
These safes are also highly reliable and perform well, with a range of safes for your needs. Yales range of certified safes have the Silver standard mark from Safe Secure UK, that is acknowledged by most insurance companies in New Zealand
Chubb Safes
Chubb produce a range of safes, many of which offer protection from fire and burglary, impact. The Viper range offer a good alternative for home and small office, complete with S2 Cash rating.
